Untangling SAP's Partner Ecosystem

Proposing one consolidated experience across a fragmented, 30-year-old partner program

Overview

SAP is a global enterprise software company. Its partner program has existed for over 30 years, and the framework has evolved considerably across that time - resulting in a complex, fragmented ecosystem for both finding an SAP partner and becoming one. Existing platforms included SAP.com/partners, Partner Finder, the Outsourcing Operations Partner Guide, the Certified Solutions Directory, SAP Store, Partner Portal, and PartnerEdge.

Team & Role

I was the lead UI / UX designer who created the proposal for a consolidated core experience for partners across the very complex SAP ecosystem.  In my role of evaluating of existing platforms, I collaborated with a variety of teams across time-zones, including individual platform leads, Project Management, Business Analytics, Content and Editorial, and IT Development.

Discovery & Research

I created a finalized discovery document, including a sitemap of the core experience on SAP.com and screenshots of every touchpoint in the ecosystem. Research included a heuristic evaluation (strengths and weaknesses), competitive analysis, existing moderated usability test findings, and Adobe Analytics data — assembled into one document supporting the project's overall objective.

Wireframes and Lo-Fidelity Mockups

I mapped the sitemap based on both user goals and the navigation components available within AEM, then sketched the layout and structure of individual pages — defining content hierarchy, user flow, and functionality along the way.

High-Fidelity Mockups

After I designed the wireframes, I moved on to high-fidelity mockups of the E2E experience. I used existing brand guidelines for the cards, typography, colors, and buttons. The Web Framework pod within my team was working on new branding guidelines at the same time, so I began to implement the new branding elements as well (thankfully figma does well to keep the 2 brand library elements separate).

Product Requirements Document

I authored an 8-page requirements document for our internal IT team, covering resource, time, and budget planning — including screenshots, fonts, colors, spacing, and alignment specs based on the incoming design system.

Outcome

This proposal was handed off to SAP's internal teams for implementation planning, providing a foundation for consolidating partner-facing touchpoints across the ecosystem.
